Tips and Tricks
Everything you need for flawless, long-lasting nails at home
Prep
Wash hands with soap and avoid using lotion or oils before application.
Nail Shaping
File your natural nails shorter or narrower depending on the press-on shape/length.
Extra Prep
If you have oily nails or have had issues with retention in the past I highly suggest swiping your nails with 100% acetone to make sure they are properly clean for application.
You can also use a q-tip with acetone to swipe the back of each nail or use the pumice stone cuticle pusher (included in Luxe Kit) to add some extra grip to the back or inside of the presson nails.
Application Angle
Apply at a 45-degree angle, sliding them under your cuticle for the most natural look.
Glue Amount
The more glue you use, the longer the nails will stay on. One dot of glue per nail (both yours and the press-on) lasts a couple of days, while a full coat on both the natural and press-on nail can last 2+ weeks. Give the gue a few seconds to get tacky before you apply.
Application Time
Apply one nail at a time, holding it down with strong pressure across the entire nail for at least 30 seconds. (I often use my phone timer to ensure proper adhesion).
If you want longer wear time and use more glue hold down each nail for 1-2 minutes.
Avoid water for at least an hour after application if possible.
The best time to apply your nails is right before bed so they have all night to dry without water or anything else interfering with the glue!
Glue Tabs
Glue tabs are great if you are only looking to wear your nails for an event or maybe a weekend. (If you are rough on your nails, I highly suggest the liquid instead). Follow the same instructions for application but I highly recommend using acetone to clean your nails if using this method.
You can either apply the glue tab to the back of the press-on or to your natural nail for application. Using a hair dryer to heat up the glue tabs after you apply them to your nails will also help them adhere better and last longer.
You will also need to apply pressure for at least 1 minute (2 minutes is even better) and avoid water before and after application for as long as possible.
Again application before bed is a great time to apply!
Removal
Never force off your nails. Soak them or use a press-off nail remover (sold on my website) to avoid damaging your natural nails.
On-the-Go Maintenance
Keep a mini glue in your purse for quick reapplication if a nail pops off.
Cuticle Care
Use cuticle oil daily to keep your cuticles and natural nails healthy.
Remember: Your nails are not tools! When doing the dishes- wear gloves! If you are opening a box- use a scissors! This will not only protect your press-on nails for multiple uses but also your natural nails underneath.
